LEWISBURG W.Va. (WVDN) – A Lewisburg man, Kevin Jazer Stocks, 24, was arrested on Oct. 14 for allegedly hitting a woman with a cast iron hot plate. According to the criminal complaint, officers received a call stating that a man and a woman were in a “physical altercation” in a yard in the area of Anderson Street before 1 a.m.

When officers arrived, they reportedly did not see anyone outside of the residence and proceeded to walk around the house to see if anyone could be seen through a window. After coming to a back window that was open and calling out “sheriff’s department,” the criminal complaint states that officers observed a female individual raise her head from the bed where she was lying. When the victim turned to face the officers, the reportedly noted that her face was covered in blood. They then asked her to open the front door. At this point, officers note hearing a male voice call out asking if they were leaving from what officers later determined to be the bathroom.

The criminal complaint states that officers were met in the living room by a bloody male individual identified as Stocks who was intoxicated. Stocks reportedly had blood dripping from gashes on his arm and visible blood on his stomach. Reportedly, Stocks refused to answer the officer’s questions and would not cooperate with questioning.

While in the residence, officers allegedly noted blood on the bathroom floor and a kitchen knife covered in blood on the sink. Stocks reportedly made no sense due to intoxication when attempting to make a statement.

Officers spoke with the victim who, according to the criminal complaint, stated Stocks had struck her with a cast iron hot plate on the head and leg. Officers reportedly noted a puncture on her right knee, red marks in her hairline, bruises on her wrists and face and deep scratch marks on her thigh.

In regards to Stocks’ injuries, the victim allegedly said that when law enforcement arrived, he took a knife to the bathroom and cut himself to make officers think the victim had cut him. The reporting officer noted in the criminal complaint that he observed the victim in bed after their arrival and heard Stocks speaking from the bathroom where he was alone.

Additionally, officers reportedly observed broken kitchen drawers, cabinet doors and dishes. The victim allegedly said Stocks broke them all.

Stocks was taken to the ER for treatment of his injuries and then to Southern Regional Jail after he was cleared by the medical team. He is being charged with one count of domestic battery and one count of destruction of property. His bail has been set at $5,000.
