Arizona Weather Force has issued a Special Weather Statement effective now for October 18th and 19th, 2024

Zones Issued For: South-Central to the Northern half of Arizona.

Discussion: A cutoff low that will miss Southern California will drop into Northwestern Arizona by Friday morning. This low will have strong upper divergence associated with it, and instability to boot. A healthy cold-front will form in Western Arizona and surge eastward with time that day. Thunderstorms will also be likely due to the dynamics mentioned in this forecast. This could also bring a dusting of snow to areas across the rim and Flagstaff as this has a cold core associated with it.

Official Thunderstorm Watches will be issued when needed on an upgrade later Thursday for the Friday event, which includes the Phoenix forecast zones as well.

As always, we take it one day at a time with these events
