Former President Donald Trump on Wednesday did a town hall appearance on Fox News in which he rambled incoherently when asked what he would do to lower the price of bacon.

After Fox News' Harris Faulkner asked Trump about the price of the meat, Trump called the situation horrible — and then said that were he president, there would never have been a war in Ukraine.

"There wouldn't have been a Ukraine and Russia, there wouldn't have been an October 7," said Trump, who didn't explain what any of that had to do with the price of bacon.

This answer befuddled television writer Ben Siemon.

"This man can't answer a basic question and 49 percent of America wants to make him leader," he wrote . "His brain's gone. He's asked about bacon he talks about Ukraine. He's asked about Google he talks about voter rolls in Virginia. Voting for Trump is voting for J.D. Vance to be president within a year."

National security attorney Bradley Moss responded to Trump's answer about the price of bacon by sarcastically quoting from the movie "American President."

"Phew, I’m glad he clarified that because those folks were about to buy some Amway products," he wrote .

X user Jeanette Webber found herself appalled by Trump's inability to answer a seemingly simply question.

"The question was about affording bacon!!" she exclaimed . "Does Donald Trump not listen? Does Donald Trump not understand? Does Harris Faulkner fear asking a follow-up?"

Reuters national security correspondent Jonathan Landay offered a fact check to Trump's belief that Russia never would have invaded Ukraine under his watch.

"Once again, Trump ignores the fact that Russia invaded Ukraine in 2014, seizing Crimea and much of Donbas, and he did nothing during his four years in office that ended Putin's occupation of that territory," he wrote .
