New York Giants left tackle Andrew Thomas underwent surgery to repair a Lisfranc foot injury and is unlikely to be recovered by the end of the regular season. "I feel terrible for him," Giants head coach Brian Daboll said Wednesday. Thomas said Sunday night after the Giants (2-4) lost to the Cincinnati Bengals that he fought through considerable pain. He briefly met with the team's medical staff, and they informed him he would need tests this week. "Not great, but it's part of the game," Thomas said Sunday night of how he was feeling physically. Thomas visited a specialist in Charlotte, N.C., on Tuesday who determined surgery would be necessary. Thomas is expected to miss the rest of the season. Whether the Giants can put together a viable line in front of quarterback Daniel Jones is now a concern. When they hit the practice field on Wednesday, Josh Ezeudu is expected to be the starting left tackle and Jermaine Eluemunor is set to play right tackle. But Daboll said a number of options are being considered as the front five changes after more than 400 snaps for the starting unit this season. "You can't replace Andrew Thomas," Daboll said Wednesday. Thomas, 25, has started all six of the Giants' games this season. He was injured during the 17-7 home loss to the Bengals. In five NFL seasons, all with New York, Thomas has appeared in 61 games (60 starts). He earned second-team All-Pro honors in 2022. The Giants selected Thomas with the fourth overall pick in the 2020 draft out of Georgia. --Field Level Media
