Leaks had caused water damage and rot in several areas of the roof decking, and the steeple itself had deteriorated and was leaking in several places as well. The steeple was saved and will be added to the church memorial garden at a later time. PHOTO: Steeple down, but saved at Vassalboro United Methodist Church

Sadly, the steeple on the 36-year-old Vassalboro United Methodist Church was removed by Burke Roofing, of West Gardiner, on Thursday.
