North Carolina Man 'Still Can't Believe' $1.1 Million Lottery Win

A man in North Carolina is still having a hard time believing he scored a prize worth more than a million dollars after hitting the jackpot.

Steven Holder , of Charlotte, recently purchased a $10 Break the Bank Fast Play ticket from the JAD Mart on Statesville Road that landed him the full progressive jackpot of $1,115,683, according to a release from the NC Education Lottery . According to the lottery website, his $1.1 million win is the third largest prize that has been won in the Fast Play history, and one that the lucky player is still coming to terms with.

"My knees buckled," he said of his win, adding, "I kept thinking, 'Is this real?'"

Holder claimed his prize at lottery headquarters in Raleigh on Monday (October 14), taking home an grand total of $797,716 after all required state and federal tax withholdings.

"When I think about it," he said, "I still can't believe it happened."

While is is unclear how he plans to celebrate his impressive win or what to do with his new prize, he could take a page out of the book of previous North Carolina lottery winners, from buying a new house or a car, taking a much-need vacation or simply putting the "overwhelming" prize into savings .
