The New York Jets have one wide receiver too many in Week 7. The Jets finalized a deal with the Las Vegas Raiders on Tuesday to trade for All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams.

The move is expected to give a boost to the 2-4 Jets after a dramatic start to the season that saw Robert Saleh lose his head coaching job after New York's 23-17 loss to the Minnesota Vikings in London.

On the same day the Jets traded for Adams, reports surfaced New York had placed veteran wide receiver Mike Williams on the trade block .

Per Rich Cimini of ESPN, Williams missed Wednesday's practice for a "personal" reason.

"Mike Williams did not practice today due to a personal reason, per Jets injury report," Cimini posted on X. "Earlier today, (Jets head coach Jeff) Ulbrich made no mention of Williams’ absence."

Williams signed a one-year deal worth $10 million with the Jets this offseason. He is off to a slow start for the 2024 campaign, catching 10 passes for 145 through the Jets first six games. The former first-round pick is the Jets' fifth-leading receiver.

With Adams on the roster, the Jets also have wide receivers Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard to throw the ball to--freeing general manager Joe Douglas to part ways with a less popular wideout for New York's star quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Rodgers has targeted Wilson 67 times and Lazard 40 times this season. Williams has been targeted just 17 times in comparison.
