Pug Positively Sprinting on Rainy Walk Wants Everyone to See His Raincoat

Rainy fall days are the best. They're reserved strictly for staying in, ordering food, avoiding all of your responsibilities, and snuggling with your dog. Most dogs love nothing more.

Oh, but not Mr. Milton the Pug. No, on Monday, October 14th, the rain was pouring down in NYC, but he still wanted his daily strut. With fewer dogs out and about, it was the perfect time to take all of the attention for himself and his admittedly awesome raincoat:

I think @jongraz is very brave for this. I'm such a baby about the rain! But he'd do anything for Milton, even making himself uncomfortable so Milton can strut his stuff!

Milton is actually Jonathan's first Foster Fail. Since losing his senior Pug a few years ago, he's fostered many others, from puppies to seniors, finally landing on and falling in love with sweet Middle Aged Milton. He's the perfect combination of that trademark Pug sass and the general enthusiasm for living that makes you want to sprint through the streets of New York in a raincoat. He may be middle-aged, but he'll always be a puppy at heart.

Even though the rain seems to be fueling a fire deep within him, Milton is also a pretty chill guy: he likes getting a little bit of bacon from his dad's favorite coffee shop, trying new foods, and taking naps on Comfy Mountain, which is just the really comfy back of the sofa. Looking great in a raincoat is just a bonus!

    Do Raincoats Actually Help Dogs?

Milton needs his raincoat, if not for his sake then for mine. Raincoats, which are sometimes accompanied by the sweetest little boots, are something that a lot of people buy for their dogs... but, do they actually do anything?

Dogs don't technically need raincoats, but they're nice to have, just like for humans. They help keep the majority of the pup dry, which is especially important for a shorter-coated dog. The rain penetrates their coats easier and makes them cold . It also reduces the likelihood of the post-rainy-walk, "holy cow, I am wet and that's crazy," zoomies. The drier they feel, the calmer they'll be.

If you want to get your dog a rain coat, you should opt for one that doesn't have a lot of underbelly coverage. That way, they'll still be able to potty easily, and they're less likely to despise it. A dog in a cute rain coat will be the talk of the town!
