A silly French Bulldog showed everyone that working smarter, not harder, is the best move after outsmarting an agility course.

On October 7, 2024, TJ the Frenchie (@tj.the.frenchie) shared a video of the cute French Bulldog showing how creativity can win you the race. Take a look!

"Work smarter, not harder," the text on the video reads as we're introduced to TJ, a French Bulldog .

In the clip, TJ is standing at the start of the agility course for dogs. The purpose of these is to navigate different obstacles, typically without knocking anything over. The dog who is able to do that the fastest is typically chosen as the winner for these types of races.

TJ, however, had a different idea of how to get through the course by working smarter.

This particular course has a bar that a dog is either supposed to jump over or run over before going through a tunnel and then another bar. TJ decided that speed was the most important thing, so he opted to ignore the obstacles to run the course the fastest.

He ran under the first bar but didn't get low enough, so the bar fell off. He then ran completely around the tunnel he was supposed to run under, jumping over the bar at the end of the course, where his mom was waiting for him and cheering him on.

So, while he probably didn't win the agility course, he certainly nailed his "work smarter, not harder" approach.

In the comment section, people had a lot to say about TJ's race and his approach.

One wrote, "The mission was to get to the end ... by any means necessary. TJ took the less stressful way. Pretty fast [and] efficient, I say."

Another shared, "We have one as clever as that."

Someone else joked, "Who says Frenchies aren't intelligent?"

Another added, "The little jump for some razzle dazzle at the end."

Someone wrote, "Typical Frenchie. 'Those rules don't apply to me.'"

One person added, "Favorite feature on a Frenchie. I had to watch that twice, [and] I was laughing so hard!"

Another TikTok user wrote, "The job got done! TJ is a master...good job. Perfection, I would hire him."

How Much Exercise Does a French Bulldog Need?

While TJ probably didn't win the agility course because he took his own route to the end, this little pup knows how to run with speed. He seems to really love his short bursts of energy, and it's a fun way for him to get his daily exercise in, too.

But how much exercise does a Frenchie need each day? Since he's a smaller breed, he doesn't need a lot, but it does an important part of being a dog parent. According to Animalife , French Bulldogs need approximately 60 minutes (one hour) of exercise each day. But it's often best not to do it all in one go.

"They’re not overly energetic dogs, and so around 45-60 minutes per day should be all they need," the site explains. "As with most breeds, splitting this exercise over two shorter walks per day is recommended to keep them mentally stimulated as well as physically."

They note that since French Bulldogs can have issues with their breathing, taking them for a slow, steady walk may often be the best exercise option. And as a dog parent, it's important to keep watch for any issues breathing while you're exercising together.
