Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) has danced around questions over whether he believes former President Donald Trump lost the 2020 election, but finally landed on an answer Wednesday in WIlliamsport, Pennsylvania.
Vance said "no" he does not believe Trump lost to Biden, according to Alec Hernández, campaign reporter for NBC News, who shared Vance's comment on X.
He added he "couldn't care less" whether anyone agrees with him, according to a clip of Vance's speech on CNN.
The senator has given murky answers as to his beliefs on the so-called "Big Lie" that former President Donald Trump won the election.
During their debate earlier this month, Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) called out Vance for what he called a " damning non-answer " over who won the presidential election.
Vance deflected questions about the Capitol riot that Trump has been accused of inciting on Jan. 6, 2021.
"Hillary Clinton in 2016 said that Donald Trump had the election stolen by Vladimir Putin because the Russians bought like $500,000 worth of Facebook ads," Vance said. "This has been going on for a long time and if we want to say that we need to respect the results of the election, I'm on board."
Walz pointed out the difference between Clinton's remarks and the riot on Jan. 6.
"This was a threat to our democracy in a way that we had not seen and it manifested itself because of Donald Trump's inability to say he is still saying he didn't lose the election," Walz said. "I would just ask that. Did he lose the 2020 election?"
"Tim, I'm focused on the future," Vance replied. "Did Kamala Harris censor Americans from speaking their mind in the wake of the 2020 COVID situation?"
"That is a damning non-answer," Walz noted.
"It's a damning non-answer for you to not talk about censorship," Vance argued. "Obviously Donald Trump and I think that there were problems in 2020."
Then on Friday, Vance was asked five times in an interview with The New York Times whether he would acknowledge Trump lost the election. He repeatedly refused, saying he was “focused on the future.”
“ There’s an obsession here with focusing on 2020 ,” Vance said in the interview. “I’m much more worried about what happened after 2020, which is a wide-open border, groceries that are unaffordable.”
Of Trump loses the election this time, he'll do the same thing that he did last time to as he's a sore loser.. Will never admit he lost anything and live in his own delusional world. So I dare him to try anything this time as it will have a bail revoked and he'll be tossed right in jail...
