ACC Makes RJ Davis Announcement Ahead of North Carolina's Season Opener

The North Carolina Tar Heels enter the season with high expectations, returning key players including Elliot Cadeau , Seth Trimble , and, most importantly, RJ Davis.

With the NCAA revealing the preseason AP Top 25 rankings ahead of the season's tip-off in less than a month, the Tar Heels open as the No. 9 ranked team in the country. Under head coach Hubert Davis , they certainly have the roster to be highly competitive.

The team also welcomes newcomers like freshman Ian Jackson , who will need to step up in key moments. However, the spotlight remains on fifth-year senior RJ Davis, who was recently honored by the ACC as the Preseason Player of the Year and First Team All-ACC.

RJ Davis led the ACC in scoring last season and has guided the Tar Heels through some deep NCAA tournament runs, yet he has yet to capture that elusive championship. This season presents him with the opportunity to achieve historic milestones within the North Carolina program.

Entering the season, Davis ranks fifth all-time in total points in Tar Heels history, with 2,088. He trails the top spot, held by Tyler Hansbrough , by just under 800 points, giving him the chance to surpass some of the greatest players in the program's legacy.

North Carolina opens its season against Elon on November 4th, followed by a highly anticipated showdown against the No. 1 Kansas Jayhawks on November 8th.
