Cold Front to Bring Wind and Drizzle to Northern California Coast

A cold front is set to impact the Northern California coast today, bringing gusty winds, coastal drizzle, and cooler temperatures. According to the National Weather Service in Eureka, while the front lacks substantial moisture, it will produce light drizzle along the coast through early Thursday, with expected totals of 0.01 to 0.03 inches.

As the front moves through, strong northeast winds will develop, especially around the Sacramento Valley and areas like the Russian River Valley. Wind gusts could reach 25 to 35 mph, with a 20-30% chance of gusts exceeding 40 mph in exposed areas.

Behind the front, cold, dry air will bring freezing conditions to interior valleys such as Hayfork, Weaverville, and Covelo on Thursday night into Friday. Temperatures in these areas may dip below freezing, with a 50-70% chance of lows in the 30s. However, widespread frost is unlikely due to lingering clouds and wind.
