A truck driver was cited for an overpass strike that occurred in British Columbia last week.

The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. on October 11 in Abbotsford, B.C.

Authorities say that a truck hauling a modular home west on No. 3 Road struck the Highway 1 overpass, causing damage to the home and leaving the highway strewn with debris.

    No injuries were reported.

The overpass did not sustain serious damage.

The truck driver was charged with driving without due care and attention, and a violation of the BC Motor Vehicle Act, which comes with a fine of $368 and six points on the driver’s license.

This is the 24th overpass strike in B.C. this year, according to CTV News .

For the past year, B.C. transportation officials have been cracking down on trucking companies and drivers responsible for infrastructure strikes by increasing fines, requiring “speed-limiting systems” for commercial vehicles, and mandating that dump-style vehicles have in-cab warning devices.
