German Shepherds Bickering Over Bed Are Like the Best Old Married Couple

Dogs bicker just like humans do. It doesn't matter how long they've lived together or that they're the best of friends; if there is something wrong between them, they may as well be mortal enemies!

This much was true for a pair of German Shepherds on October 13th: there's only one dog bed, and both dogs wanted to lie in it. Rather than doing the kind thing and sharing (because the bed is plenty big enough), they decided to fight it out:

Listen. Big Shepherds have Big Feelings, okay? They feel very strongly about their favorite things. Just accept it!

These two are a real dynamic duo. The best part is that it's not even just the two of them in that house: there are five dogs there. That definitely means that there is more than one dog bed, so the fact that they're fighting like this is just way too funny! Especially since you can literally see the second crate in the video. There is a bed. This is so dramatic!

Such is life with five German Shepherds, which is exactly what this account has been  dedicated to teaching us: they showcase life with the five pups, including three puppies that they're training. But, given that at least one of these dogs is a full grown adult, it seems this is something training does not fix. dogs will be dogs!

Training is Vital to a Good German Shepherd

Yes, they'll fight on occasion, but when push comes to shove, these are good dogs that are all trained well or being trained well. They might disrespect each other and bicker sometimes, but you can bet that they are keenly aware of time and place. This just happened to be the time and place for a tantrum.

German Shepherds are highly intelligent dogs, but that intelligence needs to be exercised frequently, and ideally honed into a skill. Otherwise, they'll use their intelligence for escape missions, destruction, and pushing your buttons. They don't mean to, but they have no idea what else to do - unless you give them one. Even if you don't plan on using your GSD as a service dog or in any line of real work, you can still give them "work training" exercises, like:

    1. Bite work
    2. Herding (with herding balls or through a herding camp)
    3. Sniffing tests
    4. Public outings

If you spend time making sure your dog has something to do, even if they don't need to do it, they'll be better for it. But when it comes to bed time, all bets are off!
