The UFC will return to Sydney with a pay-per-view show on February 9.

As confirmed at a press conference on Thursday, UFC 312 will take place at Qudos Bank Arena, marking the second of three events the MMA powerhouse is due to bring to the state following a deal with the NSW government last year.

No fights have been announced for the card just yet, although former featherweight champion Alex Volkanovski was involved in the press conference.

Despite hailing from just south of Sydney in the Illawarra, Volkanovski's only UFC appearance in the city came back in 2017, in a non-PPV event in just his third fight for the promotion.

The 36-year-old is intent on recapturing 145-pound gold and will await the winner of this month's UFC 308 main event between former opponents, Ilia Topuria and Max Holloway.

At the company's last visit to Sydney, UFC 293 last September, Israel Adesanya was upset by Sean Strickland in the main event, seeing the middleweight title change hands.

"Sydney, Australia – the Octagon is coming back this summer,” Peter Kloczko, UFC vice president in Australia and New Zealand.

“Get ready for another cracking event at Qudos Bank Arena, featuring the best local and international UFC athletes.

"We value the support from our event partners Destination NSW and hope to deliver another record-breaking result, building off the success of UFC 293 in September 2023.”
