    Authorities in Alabama Arrest 19-Year-Old in Connection to Targeted September 2024 Shooting

    (Alabama)- For Alabama residents following recent news, Birmingham authorities have arrested a local man in connection with the fatal shooting of another man, identifying the incident as a targeted event.

    According to official reports, on the afternoon of September 13, officers from the Birmingham Police Department responded to reports of a shooting in the 3000 block of 32nd Avenue North, located in the Collegeville Housing Community. Upon arrival, officers discovered 33-year-old Chuck Jermaine Wallace suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

    Wallace was rushed to UAB Hospital by Birmingham Fire and Rescue but tragically succumbed to his injuries before arriving.

    Following an in-depth investigation, authorities determined that Wallace had been the victim of a targeted shooting. On October 16, 2024, 19-year-old Derrian Vinson was taken into custody and charged with Wallace’s murder.

    Vinson is currently being held in the Jefferson County Jail without bond.

    Wallace's case marked Birmingham's 104th homicide of 2024.
