$215 Million Star Named Ambitious Trade Target For Miami Heat

Many have written off the Miami Heat before the 2024-25 season has even started and it is not hard to understand why. While teams around the league have strengthened over the summer, the side from South Beach have decided to run it back with a roster that was eliminated from the first round of the playoffs in the previous campaign.

Of course, remaining injury-free would immediately improve the Heat significantly. But even then, it is easy to recognise areas where they need to improve.

The Heat are one of the best defensive units in the league but offensively, they leave a lot to desire. Adebayo shooting more threes could add a new dimension to their game but just that might not be enough.

In the article '1 Ambitious Trade Target for Every NBA Team This Season' on Bleacher Report , Andy Bailey suggested Trae Young for the Heat. He wrote: "Again, the big “if” here is whether Trae becomes available. And after Atlanta jettisoned Murray, it’s safe to assume Young will get a bit of a runway as the unquestioned offensive hub.

"But if things don’t go well and Atlanta makes Young available, the Miami Heat are another team that should call the Hawks.

"Whether as the third member of a trio with Butler and Bam Adebayo, or as Bam’s future running mate post-Butler, Young would brighten the Heat’s future.

"And if there’s a coach and culture that can either cover for or fix Young’s defensive shortcomings, it’s Erik Spoelstra and Miami."

Going forward, there is no question about Young's ability. He has averaged over 25 points per game for five straight seasons. The only season he did not was when he was a rookie.

On the other hand, he is one of the best playmakers in the league as well. He has averaged over 10 assists per game the last couple of seasons and over 9 APG for the past five.

The question marks over Young are on the other end of the court. Miami do have a team that can help cover for his weaknesses defensively though and perhaps 'Heat Culture' will even bring the best out of him in that respect.
