Make Sure You Grab This WR in All of Your Fantasy Football Leagues

We're getting to the point in the 2024 NFL regular season where injuries and bye weeks are starting to become a challenge for fantasy football managers, and few units across the league are as banged-up as the New Orleans Saints' wide receivers heading into Week 7.

Chris Olave left last week's blowout loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a concussion, and didn't return. Then on Wednesday, Saints head coach Dennis Allen told the media that Rashid Shaheed would undergo surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his knee.

Both have already been ruled out for Thursday night's prime-time matchup against the Denver Broncos (a homecoming for Sean Payton , former Saints head coach), and it's possible that Shaheed could be lost for the season, depending on what doctors find during his surgery.

So, who's going to pick up the slack for the Saints, who are still without starting quarterback Derek Carr, who's nursing an injury of his own?

Bub Means, a rookie fifth-round pick out of Pitt, appears to be the next man up for the Saints' passing game. After seeing just one target all year heading into Sunday's game against the Bucs, Means caught five of his eight targets for 45 yards, including his first career touchdown.

Mason Tipton is also another name to keep in mind on the Saints' depth chart, but Means clearly has some chemistry and trust already developed with fellow rookie Spencer Rattler, who has taken over the starting quarterback job for the moment with Carr out.

A big-play machine in college, Means averaged over 17 yards per reception over his three seasons (one at Louisiana Tech, two at Pitt). That kind of explosive ability will be huge for the Saints, who are losing Shaheed's ability to stretch the field and challenge opposing defenses over the top.

In the short-term Means could easily be Rattler's No. 1 target when the Saints go to the air. But if Shaheed ends up missing significant time, he could also settle into the No. 2 spot opposite Olave once he's back to full strength.

If you need a plug-in receiver for the next few weeks to help cover for injuries and upcoming bye weeks, and Means is still available in your league, make sure you grab him before someone else does.
