New York Jets vs. Pittsburgh Steelers DFS Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em| Week 7

The 4-2 Pittsburgh Steelers are hosting the 2-4 New York Jets in the Sunday Night Football game of the week. The Steelers are tied with the Baltimore Ravens atop the AFC North and snapped their two-game losing streak defeating the Raiders. The Jets come off a tough loss Monday night to the Bills and have to travel to Pittsburgh on the short week, but arrive with their newly acquired wideout Davante Adams.

New York Jets vs. Pittsburgh Steelers DFS Start ‘Ems

Here are a few of the players that we are leaning on heavily in this game. These players are in a good spot to put together a solid performance and have a favorable matchup.

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Najee Harris ($6k DraftKings and $7k Fanduel)

Najee Harris is a start for us this week based on volume. Last week against the Raiders he rushed for 106 yards on 14 carries and a robust 7.6 yards per attempt. Harris is a hard runner and will most likely get the goal line carries and could be used more in the run game if Russell Wilson is under center. The Bills had success on the ground last week versus the New York Jets, rushing for 149 yards.

New York Jets RB Breece Hall ($6.8k DraftKings and $7.6k Fanduel)

Hall saw his best volume in weeks under the new Jet regime with 23 touches for 169 total yards. This game is not the best of rushing matchups against Pittsburgh’s fourth-ranked run defense but the volume is king in fantasy. In addition, Hall saw an 18% target share out of the backfield.

New York Jets vs. Pittsburgh Steelers DFS Sit ‘Ems

On the flip side of things, here are a few of the players we recommend sitting in this one.

Pittsburgh Steelers WR George Pickens ($5.8k DraftKings and $6k Fanduel)

Pickens will draw a difficult assignment this week on two fronts. The Jet’s second-ranked pass defense and Pickens will most likely draw Sauce Gardner in coverage. Pittsburgh’s pass offense is ranked 26th in the league and now it appears Russell Wilson may be under center this week. There are too many negatives to recommend Pickens in DFS week 7.

New York Jets TE Tyler Conklin ($3.5k DraftKings and $5k Fanduel)

Conklin could end up the overall odd man out in the New York Jets’ passing game with the arrival of Davante Adams. Last week he had only two catches for 10 yards on three targets. Part of that was the matchup against Buffalo, but this week does not get any easier with the 8th-ranked Steelers defense. Conklin has also only topped eight fantasy points in six games played. We are sitting him in DFS this versus the Steelers.

Total Apex Lock of the Game

New York Jets WR Garrett Wilson ($6.6k DraftKings and $7.4k Fanduel)

There are no locks in this game from a DFS perspective, so we will speak more a floor play. Garrett Wilson is coming off back-to-back stellar performances, averaging 21.65 fantasy points, 21 catches for 208 yards and two touchdowns. Wilson has catapulted himself into PPR WR7 and we feel the addition of Adams helps him in both real life and fantasy. It will be harder for a defense to roll coverage his way because that potentially leaves Adams in single coverage and vice versa. The one obvious concern is the potential shadow coverage by Joey Porter Jr. but no risk, and no reward.

Total Apex Fade of the Game

New York Jets WR Allen Lazard ($4.7k DraftKings and $5.7k Fanduel)

Lazard is due for some serious touchdown regression with five in six games. Last week’s stats were skewed by a 52-yard Hail Mary touchdown catch., with 46% of his production coming on that one play. Davante Adams is practicing in full today and will cut into Lazard’s target share, we will fade Lazard in DFS week 7.

    Conclusion

This game does not feature many of options from a DFS perspective and comes with the second-lowest implied game total on the FanDuel main slate at 38. We would love to recommend Justin Fields or use him in our lock recommendation as he is overall QB6 in fantasy but as of mid-week, there is too much unknown at the Pittsburgh quarterback position. If Fields starts he is a definite DFS start with his rushing upside.
