Usain Bolt record smashed by NFL star as Patrick Mahomes and Tyreek Hill react

NFL stars were left in awe as newcomer Xavier Worthy blazed past the competition at the annual Combine, clocking a 40-yard dash that even outpaced Usain Bolt's record.

The Kansas City Chiefs' latest addition ran an astonishing 4.21 seconds in the dash, edging out Bolt's previous best of 4.22 seconds, and leaving Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and former receiver Tyreek Hill's times of 4.29 and 4.80 respectively in the dust.

During the summer event, both Mahomes and Hill expressed their amazement on social media, with Mahomes tweeting: "4.25...crazyyyyy." This was before Worthy's time was adjusted to the even faster official record, highlighting the rookie's speed. Hill, now with the Miami Dolphins, couldn't hide his admiration either, commenting: "4.2 is crazy sheesh."

While Worthy may have beaten Hill in the dash, Hill boasts a remarkable 100m sprint time of 10.19 seconds, not too far behind world record holder Bolt's 9.58 seconds. Remarkably, Worthy also surpassed Bolt's 40-yard effort, although Olympic medalist Noah Lyles has come to Bolt's defense.

Lyles pointed out that when Bolt matched the NFL record, he wasn't equipped with football boots or proper running attire and didn't warm up, suggesting his casual 4.22-second run was even more impressive. On X, Lyles remarked: "Do we have to show the video of him running that time with jeans, no cleats, and no warming up. Just to remind y'all."

Hill, affectionately known as 'Cheetah' for his incredible pace, didn't hold back on "Up and Adams Show" hosted by Kay Adams when discussing track star Noah Lyle's bronze finish in the 200m final at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Hill threw down the gauntlet even though Lyle had cited a bout with COVID-19 as affecting his performance.

"Noah Lyles can't say nothing after what just happened to him. He wants to come out and pretend that he's sick... Just speaking to what you know about, and that's track."

His confidence soared as high as his speed, declaring: "I would beat Noah Lyles. When I beat him, I'll put on a COVID mask and let him know I mean business."

Lyle, on the other hand, appeared unfazed by Hill's challenge, casually dismissing him with: "What's that guy? What's the cheetah guy from football? I can't remember his name."

Meanwhile, with Rashee Rice likely out for the season due to a knee injury, newly acquired wide receiver Worthy is set to make an impact in the Kansas City Chiefs offense, captained by two-time SuperBowl quarterback Mahomes, who has expressed confidence in Worthy, asserting that he brings more to the table than just velocity.

Mahomes praised the California-born star's addition to the Chiefs, noting: "Just route running [and] a guy that played physical, too. For him to not weigh a ton, he plays hard, he plays through stuff. He goes out there and competes, and then the speed, obviously it opens up the field, but he's not just a fast receiver. He plays hard, plays fast and you want those types of guys on your football team."
