You can even candy these, layering the whipped sweet potatoes with fluffy marshmallows and broiling them in the oven for a few minutes.

    Enjoy!

    Ingredients

    • 2 pounds sweet potatoes (about 3-4 medium)
    • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
    • 1/4 cup milk (or heavy cream for a richer texture)
    • 2 tablespoons brown sugar (optional)
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
    • Salt and pepper, to taste
    • Chopped pecans or marshmallows for garnish (optional)

    Directions

    • Prepare the Sweet Potatoes: Peel the sweet potatoes and cut them into chunks. Place them in a large pot and cover with water. Add a pinch of salt and bring to a boil.
    • Cook the Sweet Potatoes: Reduce heat and simmer for about 15-20 minutes, or until the sweet potatoes are tender when pierced with a fork.
    • Drain and Mash: Drain the sweet potatoes and return them to the pot. Let them sit for a minute to evaporate excess moisture.
    • Whip the Sweet Potatoes: Add the softened butter, milk, brown sugar (if using), vanilla extract, cinnamon, salt, and pepper to the pot. Using a hand mixer, stand mixer, or potato masher, whip the sweet potatoes until smooth and creamy.
    • Taste and Adjust: Taste the whipped sweet potatoes and adjust the sweetness or seasoning as desired.
    • Serve: Transfer to a serving dish and garnish with chopped pecans or marshmallows if desired. Serve warm.

    What do you think?

This is a holiday side dish you have got to try this year!
