A worried dad sent a chilling text to his daughter after his wife disappeared in the woods without a trace.

On September 20 Vendula Rose, also known as Wendy, had set off from their Marysville, Ohio home for a hiking trip in Alabama. She had a special connection with the Birmingham area, having lived there before, and loved to wander through the woods, often taking day trips to the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee.

She was last seen heading towards Cheaha State Park on September 24. But then she disappeared. Husband David Rose was left worried sick, and after being unable to get hold of his daughter Dana, texted her: "Mom is missing. Call me back."

By October 5, five days after Dana received the worrying text from her dad, Rose's car was discovered abandoned at the Pinhoti Trail Head in the park. The family are desperate to find her and are working with local police and volunteers combing the forest to find her.

The family is now tormented with uncertainty as Dana's father collaborates with the Alabama police and volunteers, combing through miles of forest in search of Rose.

"We're exhausted sick worrying about her," Dana said. Vendula, came to America from Kolin, a quaint town in the Czech Republic. She moved to the United States in 2001 shortly after meeting and marrying David Rose during his visit to Prague over Thanksgiving when she was just 18.

"He got lost and asked her for directions, and then he asked if she wanted to go dance with him," Dana shared, narrating the beginning of a love story that sounds straight out of a movie. "From there, they fell in love."

Settling down in Ohio, where their daughter Dana was born. Wedny's family, grappling with unresolved questions about her disappearance, have additionally been subjected to online conspiracy theories and harassment from strangers.

In a recent development, a major home improvement retailer has declared bankruptcy and disclosed its intentions for a sale. "The amount of people that makeup things for the clout is very disrespectful," Dana remarked regarding the situation.

Dana, an adept hiker herself, cannot understand how her mother simply vanished in the wilderness. "Once you learn to read a map, it's not difficult to know where you are," Dana said.

Nevertheless, Dana holds onto the hope that her mother will return. "We're really hoping she just walks out of those woods, wondering what the big deal is," she expressed.

The Cleburne County Sheriffs Office invites anyone with information on Wendy Roses whereabouts to contact Investigator Sims at 256-463-2277 ext. 110. For those who prefer confidentiality, there is an option to call anonymously at 256-463-2277, choosing "Option 4."

Many homeless camps hide in those woods at Cheaha. About 3 years ago an Ohio couple was murdered there.
