Florida Burger King Shut Down After State Inspection

Many of us realize that fast food is not the healthiest choice. However, sometimes, you don't have time to cook and need something fast, filling, and cheap. In those situations, fast food can fit the bill. Unfortunately, one of Florida's fast food restaurants, a Burger King in Arcadia, was recently temporarily shut down after a state inspection.

About Burger King In Florida: Burger King began in Florida in the 1950s. It would quickly expand, so much so that it would extend the US and open a store in Puerto Rico in 1963.

The Whopper was actually introduced in 1957 when McDonald's was still only selling small hamburgers. Today the Whopper is only one menu item in an extensive menu.

There are around 502 Burger King locations in Florida. The location in question, at 1016 E Oak Street, gets mixed reviews, earning 3.8 out of 5 stars on Google reviews. Many complained about incorrect orders, but one reviewer, George, mentioned cleanliness, writing:

"This Burger King is so dirty and the bathrooms are nasty. The dining area floor is all sticky, trash (is) on the floor, and tables are dirty. I can't eat here... Now we are going to McDonald's for dinner..."

What Happened At Inspection?: According to data from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, an inspection occurred on October 3, 2024. At that time, six violations were noted.

Examples of basic violations were for a buckled wall, ice build-up in a freezer, food debris in a reach-in cooler, and a fryer on a garbage pad.

An intermediate violation came because no paper towels were available at the handwash sink.

A high-priority violation was noted due to approximately twenty rodent droppings being observed by a soda machine.

As a result of some of the above, the restaurant was temporarily shut down. At a follow-up on October 3rd, three violations remained but none were considered an immediate threat to the public, so the restaurant "met inspection standards" and was free to reopen.

Please note that an inspection is one moment in time and not necessarily how a restaurant conducts itself every day.

Why must it be news every time a restaurant fails inspection or is shut down.
