A 31-year-old Altoona man was convicted yesterday for failing to keep a 15-month-old child from ingesting methamphetamine last September. Kenneth Lampenfeld is facing four to five years in jail for a felony conviction of endangering the welfare of a child. Last September both Lampenfeld and his girlfriend took the child to the hospital after the toddler suffered a seizure. When it was discovered the child tested positive for meth, the girlfriend revealed that Lampenfeld used the drug, and often left plates with meth residue out in the open. Fortunately the child did recover. Lampenfeld is scheduled to be sentenced in January.
