<div>Staff WriterThe South-Western Career Academy began a new tradition by inducting the first class of individuals into the Alumni Hall of Fame in 2017.The specialized education center is looking to add more graduates into its ring of honor.From now until Jan. 1, 2025, individuals may nominate graduates who have, through their performance and achievement, brought “credit and honor to themselves and South-Western City Schools after graduation.”Graduates who believe they fit the bill will not be barred from nominating themselves.According to district officials, there are eligibility requirements and certain criteria that have to be met in order to move through the selection process.These requirement and criteria include:<ul><li>Being an alumnus of the South-Western Career Academy or the Paul C. Hayes Technical School.</li><li>Working in the industry, or a related industry, the individual studied while in school.</li><li>Their graduation year must be at least 2014 or any year prior to 2014.</li></ul>According to Evan Debo, the district’s executive director of communications, individuals will also be assessed on their professional careers and community involvement.A Hall of Fame committee will review the nominations and select the individuals to the Alumni Hall of Fame.“While it is always a difficult choice, the committee will assess each nominee against the prescribed criteria from the eligibility rules, the information from the nomination form, and contributions made to their field and or the community,” said Debo in a written statement.Since the South-Western Career Academy founded its Alumni Hall of Fame seven years ago, six former graduates have been inducted into the Alumni Hall of Fame.Debo said the mission behind the Alumni Hall of Fame was to honor the work of past graduates and to serve as an inspiration for future graduates.“The South-Western Career Academy Hall of Fall was established to honor the career and technical education work of past graduates,” he said, noting it also includes graduates of the Paul C. Hayes Technical School. “After enshrinement, their exemplary public, personal, and career achievements then serve to inspire future graduates in the years to come.”The individuals selected to the 2025 South-Western Career Academy Alumni Hall of Fame will be announced in the spring. They will be invited to attend the South-Western Career Academy Passport Ceremony, which will be held at 7 p.m. on May 22 at the Grove City Church of the Nazarene. Their award will be presented to them as a part of the ceremony.The form to nominate candidates for the Hall of Fame can be found at swcsdcareertech.com under the SWCA tab.
