While to some wrestlers, the WWE Hall of Fame is just a marketing opportunity for the company, others believe it is a great honor and worthy of celebration. And now establishing that he is part of the latter group, NXT’s Lexis King, the son of Brian Pillman, has posted on X that his goal in the business has always been to draw attention to the Pillman name in an attempt to get his father inducted. Why the former WCW star isn’t already in the WWE Hall of Fame has been a hot topic of conversation with fans for many years, with his omission speculated to be because of how young he was when he died.

“Just speaking as Pillman Jr. here for a moment. This is all I ever wanted. My goal from day one in wrestling has always been to bring enough attention to the Pillman name, to remind us all of this legendary performer so that he could take his rightful spot in the hall of fame.”

Pillman tragically died aged just 35 on October 5, 1997, which was the same day he was meant to wrestle Dude Love at WWE’s Badd Blood pay-per-view. Officially, his cause of death was coronary artery disease, although the medical examiner also found traces of cocaine in his body. Additionally, it’s known he was using human growth hormones as well as taking painkillers and ephedrine-containing pills to assist him with his look. Therefore, it is understandable why Vince McMahon was reluctant to draw any more attention to Pillman’s death, although with so much time having passed, perhaps Triple H will reconsider this.
