Current head coach Zac Taylor is 0-5 there and quarterback Joe Burrow is 0-3 (he didn't play in the 2021 regular-season finale at Cleveland, because the Bengals had clinched the AFC North and their playoff seed was already set).Defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo said he made sure he brought up the winless streak in the first defensive unit meeting of the week."It's terrible," said Anarumo. "We have yet to get on the bus happy. They are aware of what that building presents, what that team presents to us and the challenges. We have to step it up and do better.I said, 'Hey, the veterans in the room I think you know what it has been up there, but I am addressing the guys that are new to the team and the rookies that, hey, this has not been a successful place for us. Just make sure you understand, records, all that stuff, none of it means anything. "It's going to be a very similar game to last week (when the Bengals won at the New York Giants 17-7). Really good defense, great front, good secondary, so we're going to have to be smart with the ball, take our explosives when they are there, stay on track. We can't get behind the sticks, because of how good their front is. It will be a challenge, but we're going to be ready for it."While Burrow is 0-3 it should be noted that his first game in Cleveland as a rookie in 2020 was just the second game of the season, and he completed 37 of 61 passes for 316 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in a 35-30 loss. In the 2022 matchup at the Browns standout wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase was injured and didn't play, and Burrow completed 25 of 35 passes for 232 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in a 32-13 loss. Last season, Burrow was still dealing with the effects of the calf strain suffered in training camp, and in a game played in a steady rain he completed on 14 of 31 passes for 82 yards in a 24-3 loss.Burrow said his lack of success and the team's lack of success in Cleveland is motivating force this week."Yeah, of course." said Burrow. (AP Photo/Ron Schwane)</figcaption></figure>A common thread for not winning in Cleveland during Burrow's tenure as starting quarterback has been the Browns level of talent on defense at all three levels, starting with defensive end Myles Garrett, who has 12 career sacks and 25 quarterback hits in 10 career games against the Bengals."You focus on the defensive side of the ball - Pro Bowl players at all positions, All-Pro players at all positions," said Taylor. "Just collectively, it's a really tough group. They're really fast, but certainly (Garrett), he grabs your attention. From the first snap you watch to the final one over the years, he's always been a problem."Burrow said getting off to a fast start will be imperative."We know what they like to do offensively," said Burrow. "We know what they like to do defensively. They like to run the ball and rush the passer. If we can get out on them early it makes them play the game a different way then they have against us the last several years.
