New Details Emerge in the Circumstances Surrounding Liam Payne’s Death

New details in the moments leading up to Liam Payne's untimely death have been revealed.

Staff at the Buenos Aires, Argentina, hotel where the former One Direction member died reportedly called 911 out of concern for the musician's well-being twice in the minutes preceding his passing, according to 911 transcripts published by the BBC .

The publication identified the caller as the hotel's chief receptionist, who, in their first call for help, reported that a guest who appeared to be "high on drugs" was "trashing the room," as translated from Spanish.

However, the call was cut off, necessitating a follow-up. In the second call, the employee added that he may also drunk, and specified that he was "trashing the entire room...when he is conscious."

They requested help be sent "urgently," questioning whether "[the guest's] life may be in danger" because he was locked "in a room with a balcony."

Medical personnel and police were dispatched to the location and, according to the publication, law enforcement was on the scene before Payne fell to his death from his third-floor balcony.

On Thursday, Oct 17, police confirmed that Payne "jumped from the balcony" of his hotel room, per People .

Payne was staying at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in the Argentinian capital. Though he'd only been there for a few days, per the chief receptionist's call, he'd been in the area for a couple of weeks, having recently reunited with fellow One Directioner Niall Horan at his concert on Oct. 2.

Several eyewitnesses told the Daily Mail that he fell shortly after 5 p.m. local time on the evening of Wednesday, Oct. 16. A 911 call was also reportedly made to report an "aggressive" male, with several sources on the scene corroborating that Payne had been acting erratically in the lobby.
