Students of a North Carolina school are reportedly under a "code-red lockdown" and say no one is allowed to leave or enter the building due to a "potential threat."

Local police are on the scene, according to Sky 5 news. Students at Rolesville High School are terrified, reports one X user who added the children weren't sure whether the lockdown is real or just a drill. A message on the school website appeared around 7:45 a.m., indicating the building was placed on a "code red" lockdown. A "code red" denotes the highest security alert used in Wake County Public Schools.

The message read “All students are safe. Our school is under Code Red lockdown while law enforcement responds to a potential threat."

"No one is allowed on our campus during a Code Red lockdown. You will not be permitted near campus until the lock down is over. Please do not come to school to pick up your student. In a code red lockdown, the entire building is locked down. No one is allowed to enter or exit the building until an all-clear announcement is received from police."

"We will share updates via email and our school website as soon as possible. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us to keep our students and staff safe. More information about our lockdown protocols is available on the Keeping Your Child Safe website.”

During a code red lockdown, students must shelter in place with the door locked. No one is allowed to enter or leave the building until the alert is lifted.

Students had gone through just 20 minutes of their school day, which began at 7:20 a.m. The school has tried to ease parents' worries and ensured them their kids were safe. Officials asked concerned parents not to swarm campus but to standby until the school provides an update on its website.

The lockdown coupled with the police cars seen surrounding the school has put the community on edge. Such a high measure of security is seldom implemented at Rolesville, which had similar code red lockdowns in February 2023, which was due to a student being caught with a loaded handgun outside the school, and October 2022, which was due to trespassers who illicitly entered campus about one hour before the school day ended. No students or teachers were harmed in either incidents

In about two hours since students were ordered to shelter in place, no new information concerning the potential threat has emerged. Local authorities on the scene are reportedly remaining vigilant and following all safety protocols until they are told otherwise.

More mentally ill people left to run amok. Need institutions and the will to permanently put people in them, young people too.
