Does Amari Change Bills' 'Everybody Eats' Mantra?

    By Adam Schultz,

One of the driving forces behind the Buffalo Bills' offensive performances through six weeks has been that no one player is the sole focus.

Termed the "everybody eats" mantra, the Bills receivers aren't too fussed about who gets the targets as long as the team wins.

Whether that be Khalil Shakir, who gets seven catches one week or two the next, the Bills, with Josh Allen simply throwing to whoever is open, have an unknown quality about them on offense, and that can make it hard to gameplan agaisnt.

But now, with the acquisition of Amari Cooper via trade, who, we think, immediately skyrockets to the top of the receiver depth chart, does the "everybody eats" mantra change?

"I think it's going to help us regardless because defenses know who he is," Allen said. "We're going to try to get him his [targets], but everybody else is still going to get theirs, and I think that's the most important thing. I'm still just trying to throw to the open guy but I think having a type of guy like him who's done it consistently over the course of his career, and he's done it at a high level, is going to help everybody in this building on the offensive side of the ball."

So one can imagine that the Bills will try and lean towards getting Cooper involved because, well, he's a Pro Bowl talent for a reason.

But will that upset the apple cart if he is constantly getting seven to eight targets a game and others like Shakir or Dalton Kincaid have two or three? Plus, we haven't mentioned the run game yet either, which, as we saw against the New York Jets, can take over games.

That means there will be fewer pass attempts and only one football to feed a host of mouths on offense.

The everybody eats mantra has served Buffalo well through six weeks, but could the Cooper trade harm that? Allen doesn't seem to think so.
