CHICAGO — This weekend marks the 14th annual Open House Chicago.
Alongside touring historical and architectural gems during the public fest, Chicagoans can enjoy a Thursday night art showcase in Hyde Park, take a Saturday walking tour of Humboldt Park, enjoy Island Party Hut’s Fall Fest along the riverwalk and more.
There’s also the Arts in the Dark parade and a Lincoln Avenue and Roscoe Street Beer Stroll.

‘Rita’ Screenings
5:45 p.m. Thursday and 3 p.m. Friday
Instituto Cervantes, 31 W. Ohio St.
Instituto Cervantes is screening Paz Vega’s directorial debut feature, “Rita,” a 2024 Spanish film that is a “deeply personal and moving exploration of domestic violence as experienced through the eyes of a child.” The movie is in Spanish and will have English subtitles.

The Chicago Architecture Center’s 14th annual Open House Chicago returns this weekend, offering free behind-the-scenes access to Chicago landmarks and architectural gems across the city — from homes to renovated theaters and century-old churches. There are more than 170 sites across over 20 neighborhoods. This free public festival will also have more than 40 events and programs like demonstrations, talks and arts performances.

Third Thursday Gallery Night

Every third Thursday of the month, this Hyde Park hotel hosts an artist showcase with live beats from a DJ. This week features work by Dredske and K-Fleye, plus special guest DJs Vic Mensa and Vic Lloyd.
La Fete du Funk, a live music tribute to ’70s rock and disco, is coming to the Epiphany Center for the Arts this weekend. It’ll feature genre-defining icons from the Rolling Stones and Donna Summer to The Doors and Santana, plus a “disco-rock cocktail.” Guests are strongly encouraged to wear disco outfits.

In this rave and AV show, DJs Roxanne Roll and Alex Oxley — who call themselves Fleetmac Wood — rework the classic rock sounds of Fleetwood Mac “into a spectrum of electronic genres,” with remixes and edits of hits and deep cuts alike.
Professional guide and local resident Eduardo Arocho is leading a walk through Humboldt Park, guiding people through its stores, restaurants, public art and Puerto Rican history.

Island Party Hut Fall Fest

There will be live music, hayrides along the river, a pumpkin patch, fall cocktails and beer, apple cider doughnuts, games and more at Island Party Hut’s weekly October fall fest.
North Lawndale Bus Tour With Shermann ‘Dilla’ Thomas
2-4 p.m. Saturday
James Stone Freedom Square, 3615 W. Douglas Blvd.
Chicago urban historian Shermann “Dilla” Thomas is leading a bus tour through North Lawndale, unpacking the social, cultural and architectural history of the neighborhood. The tour starts and ends at the Chicago Sukkah Design Festival .

A Bully Bash

Kuma’s Corner West Loop, 852 W. Fulton Market
Chi-Town Pitties is celebrating eight years of rescuing and advocating for bully breed dogs this weekend. At the Bully Bash, there will be food and drinks, raffle prizes and music. Well-behaved dogs are allowed on leashes, according to organizers.
The Sadie Hawkins Day Style Ride, a popular charity bike ride that’s part scavenger hunt and part costume party, is back this weekend after an eight-year hiatus. The ride is meant to be a creative, relaxed and inclusive way to support local businesses and bike shops while biking around the North and Northwest sides. There will also be raffle prizes and a 7 p.m. after party at Richmond’s Sports Bar, 2944 W. Grand Ave.

Lincoln Avenue & Roscoe Street Beer Stroll
3-6 p.m. Saturday
Along Lincoln Avenue from Belmont to Addison (Route A) or from Diversey to Belmont (Route B), or Roscoe Street from Damen to Western (Route C)
For this Halloween-themed event, more than 20 local businesses across three Lincoln Avenue and Roscoe Street routes will transform into craft beer-tasting destinations. Participating spots include Cubbington’s Cabinet, Moondance Chicago, Roost Chicken and Biscuits, Roscoe Village Bikes and The Denim Lounge.
Tickets are $30 in advance and $40 the day of the event. Participants will get commemorative beer -tasting glasses, an event guide map and coupons to local businesses. Learn more, choose a route and buy tickets here .
Arts In The Dark Parade
6-8 p.m. Saturday
Along State Street from Lake to Van Buren
Now in its 10th year, this evening parade brings together various Chicago cultural organizations, youth programs, artists like Dee Alexander, J. Ivy and Tim Samuelson and an audience of 50,000 people. There will be unique floats, puppets and creative performances along the Loop’s historic State Street.
