Donald Trump was put on the spot Wednesday by a Latino farmer worried that his migrant deportation plans are going to leave him unable to get crops from his fields.

Trump spoke to a group of Latino voters for a Univision Noticias town hall and, among the questions he faced, was one about how he reconciles his absolutist plan to deport people when farmers continue to need immigrant workers.

Trump responded with a description of the love farmers have for him.

"The problem we had is we had people coming in under my administration, and they were coming in legally — they were coming in through a system that we had, which was great," claimed Trump.

"I'm the best thing that's ever happened to farmers. You know that," he added.

A June report from The Guardian revealed that farmers have turned away from Trump in recent years because he cost them so much in profits as Foreign Policy reported. He then tried to buy farmers with direct payments, but as economists explained to Politico, it wasn't sustainable .

Trump goes on to claim that farmers have done horribly under the Biden administration. As the USDA charted , farmers reached "record highs in 2022," and while "farm sector income is forecast to fall in 2024," the report said it would be "at a slower rate than it fell in 2023."

Meanwhile, the massive agricultural company John Deere debunked his claim this week that his threat of tariffs in his first administration had supposedly saved workers .

well, where are all the white people lining up to take their jobs back? isn't it the case that immigrants are taking the white mans jobs? aren't they taking black peoples jobs too? I do t see the lines building anywhere, and I live in a rural area of LA where there is a whole lot of farming going on here. I love all people. We have to point out the obvious. especially when being targeted by lies by a big fat lying orange blob of nothing.

No one seemed to notice when Jared Kushner's company bought a majority stake in Univision to use propaganda to try for the Latino vote.
