Stephen A. Smith Accused Dan Orlovsky Of “Engaging In Hyperbole For A Living” In An All-Time Meme-Worthy ‘First Take’ Moment

This might be the funniest live reaction I've seen from an ESPN personality since the iconic Brian Windhorst meme. Stephen A. Smith is partially responsible for ushering in a whole era of hot take artistry on sports talk shows. I feel like my brain might spontaneously leak fluid out of my ears whenever I hear him regurgitate a basic quarterback stat line as the primary foundation of his latest "argument" in a debate. But hey, great work and millions of dollars if you can get it. Stephen A. worked his way up from respected NBA reporter to yelling on TV. I still prefer his own independent show far more than the nonsense he spews on First Take. All that said, if Stephen A. weren't on First Take , we wouldn't get gem moments like what happened on Thursday, when ex-NFL QB Dan Orlovsky was taken aback by SAS's assertion that he too often invokes hyperbole during their heated verbal exchanges. https://twitter.com/awfulannouncing/status/1846923227940913618 I'm 75.8% confident this expression by Orlovsky will replace the Chris Pratt
Parks & Recreation meme. https://twitter.com/HunterSleppy/status/1846930356718784777 And here are a couple more memes for good measure to capture how folks are feeling about this. https://twitter.com/Jrjjs2/status/1846925314997338271 https://twitter.com/mikeleeeeon/status/1846927207001682142 It is beyond rich for Stephen A. to accuse somebody else of engaging in hyperbole for a living. The man has been doing precisely that for over a decade — and he was quick to call himself out. Alas, the damage was already done. If you really look at your own life, you're liable to find some instance of hypocrisy. Sometimes it's funniest and most refreshing when people just come right out with their innate contradictions, ya know? Seriously though, Stephen A. had Orlovsky so shocked by his "hyperbole" accusation that he damn near dropped an F-bomb on the set. Not going to sit here and pretend like I check in often on
First Take , but Orlovsky is a great addition. He played in the NFL, and really knows ball. Everyone makes fun of him (deserved) for obliviously running out the back of the end zone for a safety when he was a player. To me, though, he will say some outlandish things from time to time, yet he's right more often than not. Orlovsky breaks down and makes sense of NFL film as well as almost anyone. Stephen A. could never dream of doing the basketball equivalent of this: https://twitter.com/danorlovsky7/status/1845783773301932163 Side note/side plot: Orlovsky recently said nobody can do what he does, so he does engage in hyperbole. https://twitter.com/awfulannouncing/status/1846342310168351032 Another ex-QB and film junkie, Chase Daniel, took notice and turned Orlovsky's exaggerated, self-aggrandizing statement into motivational fuel. https://twitter.com/ChaseDaniel/status/1846546268551569711 And granted, Orlovsky broadcasts games from time to time in addition to his studio hosting duties. So maybe in that sense, he has a point. Jokes aside, no offense to Chase Or Danny O, but J.T. O'Sullivan runs laps around y'all when it comes to film breakdowns. Way funnier. Way more insightful. Way easier on the ears vocally. J.T. is putting out the best NFL content in the game and it's not even remotely close in my opinion. No cap. No hyperbole. J.T. is the anti-Stephen A. if you're into that sort of thing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c5Xo6m4eRPA&pp=ygUJcWIgc2Nob29s
