The anime is based on the Shueisha-published Haikyu!! manga by Haruichi Furudate, which was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2012 to 2020 and is collected into 45 tankoubon volumes. Viz Media describes the manga as:After losing his first and last volleyball match against Tobio Kageyama, “the King of the Court,” Shoyo Hinata swears to become his rival after graduating middle school. But what happens when the guy he wants to defeat ends up being his teammate?!The first season of the anime started airing in 2014. In 2022, it was announced that there would be a two-part Haikyu!!
