The Colorado Buffaloes are proving that their influence goes beyond football. In collaboration with Project Angel Heart, and 5430 Alliance, the team has stepped up to help people facing food insecurity by preparing meal bags—an act of kindness that’s resonating throughout the community.

Offensive lineman Hank Zilinskas has been a driving force behind this initiative. “Taking time to spread some positivity through decorated meal bags for those battling illness,” Zilinskas said, underscoring how even simple gestures can uplift those in tough situations. Project Angel Heart is a nonprofit that delivers medically tailored meals to individuals with life-threatening illnesses, ensuring that food is not just sustenance, but also a form of care.

Other Buffs players, like sophomore running back Isaiah Augustave, are embracing the opportunity to make a difference. “Bringing a smile to those in need, one meal bag at a time,” Augustave shared, reflecting the team’s commitment to community engagement.

Defensive end Dayon Hayes echoed the sentiment, noting, “Making a difference beyond the field by adding a little cheer to meal bags for those going through tough times.”

The Buffaloes’ efforts off the field reflect their values. As offensive guard Payton Kirkland put it, “Using our platform to give back and bring joy to those who need it most.” With this ongoing work, the Buffs continue to show their commitment to making a difference.

As the Buffaloes lead on the field, they continue to lead off of it, using their platform to inspire positive change in their community.
