Hillsboro is home to the HART Theatre, a homegrown success story. COVID almost wiped out this and every other community-based performing arts group, but not HART, which, as an organization, dug in and fought its way back to new heights. Under the leadership of Artistic Director Harrison Butler, who is part theatrical genius and part junkyard dog, HART has not only fought its way back to relevance but has also risen to the highest heights it has ever seen. Pushed forward by a vibrant board of directors that includes longtime supporter and Hillsboro business icon Marlys Carter, as well as newcomers like writer and creative force April Aasheim, the organization is looking at a bright future.
