There’s no shortage of tears at NBC these days. Hoda Kotb has been getting a lot of love from guests visiting The Today Show this week ahead of her imminent retirement from daytime television. But the attention appears to have overwhelmed her during a recent broadcast of Today .

Jason Segel was visiting the studios to promote his Apple TV+ comedy Shrinking . But the actor concluded his interview with a heartfelt message to Kotb as she prepares to leave The Today Show in 2025.

“I’m going to miss you when you’re gone,” he told Kotb. “I just want you to know these interviews have been some of the best of my whole career so I’m really grateful to know you.”

Kotb pressed a hand to her chest as tears filled her eyes. “Oh, wow,” she said. “Thanks.”

The camera then panned to Savannah Guthrie before she directed it back to Segel and Kotb, saying, “Get back to the hug, there’s a big hug going on over there.” In a video of the touching moment shared on social media, Kotb can be seen wiping her eyes.

“I realized that it was time for me to turn the page at 60, and to try something new,” she said in a memo to her coworkers, per Today.com . “I remembered standing outside looking at these beautiful bunch of people with these gorgeous signs, and I thought, ‘This is what the top of the wave feels like for me.’ And I thought it can’t get better, and I decided that this is the right time for me to kind of move on.”

It appears that Kotb is planning on staying at NBC until the beginning of 2025, but it remains unclear when her last day on air will be.

Segel isn’t the first celeb to wish Kotb well on her next endeavor. Just the day before, Henry Winkler delayed his interview with Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager to share his praise with a message that appeared to move Bush Hager to tears.

“You two make each guest feel like they are the only guest [who has sat on this couch] and I just want to say, on behalf of my wife stacey and I, we are going to miss you as America is going to miss you,” he told Kotb and Bush Hager. “Thank you for always making me welcome.”

He added, “The two of you have a chemistry that is going to be very difficult to fill.”

Indeed, Kotb will be leaving some big shoes to fill. NBC will have to find someone to fill in for Kotb on both The Today Show and the fourth hour of Today that she co-hosts with Bush Hager.

But she may not be straying too far from the network. Kotb will reportedly “remain part of the NBC family” after her retirement, per Today.com.
