Klay Thompson Responds to Draymond Green Trash Talk

Little was made of any ill will between the Golden State Warriors and Klay Thompson before their break up this summer. But in the aftermath, it sure seems that each party is anxious to prove something to the other.

Thompson agreed on a sign-and-trade to the Dallas Mavericks on July 6, after falling short in contract talks with the Warriors. For the first time since being drafted in 2011, when he takes the court this year, it won't be in a Golden State uniform.

Draymond Green, when asked about facing Thompson for the first time this season, told Ohm Youngmisuk that he's going to "run through his chest."

"I'm going to run through his chest," Green told Youngmisuk on Oct. 9 . "Because I used to run through my older brother's chest when we played. There's always this public disdain over me and Bron's brotherhood. I try to kill him [on the court] more than anybody. I take him out. And vice versa. That's what it is. I'm more apt to run through his chest than Kyrie [Irving]."

Thompson's since responded, telling Rachel Nichols in an "Open Run" interview , "I'll take two free throws. I'm a pretty tough guy. I think I can handle it."

When asked about playing at the Chase Center, he admitted it will be "a little weird."

"It's probably going to be a little weird at first, but once the ball tips up and I start running around, it's just going to be basketball again," Thompson said. "Luckily, I've had great success shooting in that arena, so hopefully that translates. It feels good to be going back with some reinforcements. Probably be a lot of emotions at first, but once the competitive juices start flowing, I'll be just trying to do everything to win."

Fans will have to wait until Nov. 12 to see any potential fireworks, with the Mavericks scheduled for an on-the-road matchup against Thompson's former team.
