“I would agree with the sentiment that, yes, it was very much too soon,” Ken, 31, said during an appearance on “The Viall Files” podcast that was published on Wednesday, October 16. “At the same time, it’s a child. It’s a blessing. I think I had a whole cocktail of emotions in that moment, and I think I needed a minute to process. Even after the initial shock, I was, like, [telling Gypsy,] ‘Let me call you back in like 10 minutes. I felt like I just needed to walk around and breathe for a minute.”
Nick Viall also asked Gypsy, 33, and Ken about the moment they learned that she was pregnant.
“I was, like, getting ready for work,” Ken said. “It was very shocking. I think my jaw just dropped. I was like, ‘Oh my God, for real, have you taken more than one test? Are we sure about this?’”
Gypsy, 33, chimed in and said that she took “two” pregnancy tests to confirm the news.
Ken continued, “I think this realization just hit me like, ‘Holy s–t,’ but I was like, ‘I can’t believe it. That’s crazy.’”
As for once the baby girl arrives, Gypsy explained that she and Ken would not be living together as they learn to coparent due to the restrictions of her parole.
“So I am still living with my parents in Cut Off, which is an hour away from [Ken,]” the Louisiana native told Nick, 44. “I’m gonna be living there until I’m off of parole. So we’re like, OK, how is this gonna work whenever the baby’s born? Like, how many days could I spend with you, and how many days can you spend with me?”
Gypsy continued, “You know, who will she be with? As, you know, we’re going back and forth, and we’re doing kind of, essentially, coparenting even though we are together.”
However, it’s not only Gypsy’s parole requirements that led her and Ken to decide to live apart after their daughter arrives.
“I mean, this is a new relationship in a sense. Even though we have a history behind our relationship and a foundation, we’re just getting back together after a five-year separation,” Gypsy said.
The Life After Lockup star also opened up about where she stands with her estranged husband, Ryan Anderson.
“I have been trying to have a very civil conversation with Ryan about everything because we don’t communicate often,” Gypsy began. “I really just wanted to have, you know, closure, that one conversation that kind of closed everything up. We had that. Unfortunately, I feel like I’m in a place of higher healing, an elevated healing than he is right now. So, I’ve kept my distance.”
Ryan, 38, and Gypsy married while she was still behind bars in July 2022. When she was released from prison, their relationship quickly began to go downhill, and around four months after her release, Gypsy filed for divorce. Because Gypsy and Ryan’s divorce wasn’t final when her child with Ken was conceived, the baby will have to undergo a paternity test to legally determine who fathered the child, according to Louisiana law. Ken will not have any rights to the child until paternity is determined.
