Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce kicked off his new acting career with his debut role as Ed Lachlan in FX's original drama series "Grotesquerie."

Kelce didn't make his first appearance on the show until episode three, which was aired on Oct. 2.

In that episode, many fans were quick to point out a potential reference to Kelce's girlfriend, singer Taylor Swift. In a scene, Kelce's character helps actress Niecy Nash's character escape a hospital, where the two drive off in a red convertible.

Ryan Murphy, the creator of the series, recently revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that this was, in fact, a nod to Swift's popular song "Getaway Car" from her 2017 album Reputation .

"There’s that last scene of [Kelce and Nash] in episode three that I directed where they go in the red getaway car," Murphy told THR. "That’s a little Taylor Swift nod for you there... And they drive off to this black limbic space, which makes absolutely no sense. But it does make sense now because you know [Nash's character] is in a coma."

On the Oct. 16 episode of "Grotesqurie," the writers added a twist to the show as it was revealed that Nash's character, Lois, was in a coma throughout the first few episodes. Everything that happened to her in the show, including the murder she'd been hunting, was all inside Lois' head.

Kelce continued his new Hollywood career as he signed on to be the host of the Amazon Prime gameshow "Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?" The new series had a three-episode premiere on Oct. 16. It is a reimagining of the popular gameshow "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?" which was hosted by Jeff Foxworthy.

Meanwhile, as the Chiefs' bye week has come and gone, Kelce and his team are sitting at 5-0 on the season, one of the two remaining undefeated teams in the NFL (Minnesota Vikings). However, Kelce has started to show his 35-year age, having one of the worst starts to a season since his rookie year in 2013.
