Storied Hotel & Spa, older than California State itself, Celebrates 200 Years of Hospitality

The Casa Munras Garden Hotel & Spa marked a significant milestone on Saturday, September 21, 2024, celebrating 200 years of hospitality with a lively event attended by over 250 guests. The celebration paid tribute to the hotel's rich history and its enduring tradition of welcoming visitors, community members, and local dignitaries.

The festivities featured a vibrant lineup of entertainment, including classical Spanish guitar, Spanish bolero music, flamenco dancers, and cooking demonstrations. Guests enjoyed a culinary feast from Estéban Restaurant, where delicious dishes and flowing beverages highlighted the occasion.

Originally built in 1824 by Spanish diplomat Don Estéban Munras, the hacienda-style adobe has long served as a cornerstone of downtown Monterey. The hotel has undergone several transformations, beginning with its sale to former Mayor P.J. Dougherty in 1941, who reimagined the property into the Casa Munras Garden Hotel.

Throughout the years, the hotel has continued to evolve, adding accommodations and amenities to enhance the guest experience. In 2012, the property was renovated and renamed, preserving its legacy while embracing modern hospitality.
