    West Ottawa girls cross country races to sixth OK Red Conference title in a row

    GRAND RAPIDS - The West Ottawa girls cross country team dominated yet another OK Red Conference championship meet.

    The Panthers pushed their title streak to six years in a row after Thursday's win at Riverside Park in Grand Rapids.

    West Ottawa, a state championship contender, scored 25 points to win, followed by Grand Haven (57), Rockford (75), Hudsonville (98), Grandville (128) and East Kentwood (141).

    West Ottawa senior Helen Sachs won the race in 16 minutes, 59.74 seconds, more than a minute ahead of the field.

    The Panthers went 1-4-5-7-8. Senior Emma Gunnett was fourth (18:22.96), sophomore Collette Wierks was fifth (18:39.11), sophomore Lyla Dowling was seventh (18:44.41) and senior Jane Olney was eighth (19:44.51).

    Freshman Mary Dalbow took 14th (19:18.28), junior Addie Birkholz was 18th (19:38.91) and sophomore Ella Wierks was 21st (19:50.27).

    The West Ottawa boys finished sixth with 118. Grand Haven won the boys meet with 55.

    West Ottawa's Levi Jongekryg took 18th (16:52.64) and Jake Follett was 19th (16:53.55).

    Grandville's Carter Livermore won the boys race in 15:32.83.
