DEKALB COUNTY – A multi-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 2:55 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, has claimed the life of a Crossville man. Tommy W. Gortney, 51, was fatally injured when the 2015 Kia Optima that he was driving was struck by the 2015 Honda CR-V driven by Olivia G. Butler, 27, of Rainsville. After the impact, the Kia struck the 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Katheryn D Lipscomb, 33, of Crossville and then struck the 2019 Honda CR-V driven by Amanda F. Terry, 51, of Rainsville. Gortney was pronounced deceased at the scene. Lipscomb and Terry were both injured and transported to Marshall Medical Center for treatment. The passenger of the Kia, Malinda B. Gortney, 50, of Crossville, was injured and transported to Huntsville Hospital for treatment. Two child passengers of the Chevrolet, a 5-year-old and a 1-year-old, were also injured and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
