Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo is bullish on his side's title chances this season .

The left winger sat down with Sky Sports to discuss Liverpool's ambitions the rest of the way. When asked what his hopes are for the campaign, Gakpo was straight to the point: "Hopefully, we can win everything."

The Reds have captured 18 of 21 available points to sit top of the Premier League table after seven games. Liverpool won its first two Champions League fixtures and is into the fourth round of the League Cup after a 5-1 win over West Ham.

Gakpo hasn't been starting regularly for the Reds this year, as left winger Luis Diaz's hot start means the Colombian has featured ahead of his Dutch counterpart.

The strength of the entire team has Gakpo confident the team can push on from last season. "At the start of the season, we are in all competitions and yeah when you participate in a competition, you participate to win," he continued.

"That’s how it goes, and I think last season we showed that we could do it. We were very close to a lot of things [trophies] but yeah we missed it in the end a little bit but that also gives us hope and strength for this season that we know we could come that far so this season we can push even further."

Across all competitions, Gakpo scored 12 goals and tallied 15 assists in just 19 games for PSV to start the 2022-23 campaign. He was named Eredivisie player of the month for both the months of September and October

He scored three goals for the Netherlands at the 2022 World Cup to further increase his status in the shop window. Shortly after, Gakpo earned a €40 to €50 million ($43-$54 million) to Liverpool.

The Dutch forward started 17 games in the Premier League last season for the Reds and recorded a respectable 13 goal involvements. He shined again for his country in international competitions, scoring three more goals for the Netherlands at the 2024 Euros.

However, Gakpo's sensational form hasn't coincided with an uptick in Premier League minutes - he's started just one of the first seven league games. Coach Arne Slot has urged the Liverpool forward to be patient. The first-year Liverpool coach Arne Slot commended Gakpo for playing with passion and anger in a Champions League win over Milan.

“Every time you play, if you play every week or once in a while, you have to give it your best," Slot said. “But the one he’s in competition with had some good performances as well, so that’s what I mean, it’s all about the team."

“These players that play for Liverpool all have a lot of quality, there’s not one player that doesn’t have quality," Slot continued. “So if they can show up, if that comes from anger or not, just work hard, then the team and the individual quality will lead to a good performance.”
