Donna Lane, a 911 dispatcher at the Southhold Police Department is being credited with saving a family of five whose Mattituck home was on fire. "I'm not a hero, I’m a human” explained Lane. A family was asleep inside their home on Main Road in Mattituck late Wednesday evening when a fire started in the rear of the residence. "I just started banging on the door. I saw two cars in the driveway, I knew someone was home, I wanted to wake them up." Lane, who was off duty at the time, says a couple with their baby and two small children safely exited a side door. The family was helped by Lane and first responders who arrived at the scene. "
