5-Star QB Decommits from Georgia, Names Clemson as School That 'Stands Out'

It’s decommit season and it seems no school is immune.

Late Thursday, Georgia lost its top quarterback recruit in the 2026 class as 5-star Jared Curtis (Nashville Christian, TN) announced a decommitment from the Bulldogs.

“The recruiting process has been an exciting time and a huge learning experience for me,” Curtis posted on social media . “I am especially thankful to the coaches at Georgia for their belief in me and for treating me and my family with so much love and support from day one.”

“This morning I spoke with Coach Smart and Coach Bobo and let them know that I still love Georgia, but would like to take some more time to explore all my options so I can make the best, most informed decision for my future. I let them know it just doesn’t seem right or fair to stay committed while checking out other programs. People need to know where I stand and I’ve learned that making big decisions takes time.”

“My focus now is taking care of business during the rest of our high school season and being a great teammate and leader. I look forward to making the most of an open recruiting process in the months ahead.”

Curtis named six schools that currently “stand out” the most to him, with Clemson being one of those programs. Oregon, South Carolina, Ohio State, Southern Cal and Alabama were the other five.

What makes this interesting is the fact that of those six schools, Clemson is the only one yet to have extended an offer. And the Tigers already have two quarterbacks committed in the 2026 class in 4-star Tait Reynolds and 3-star Brock Bradley.

Curtis ranks No. 8 overall in the On3 Industry Rankings and No. 2 among all quarterbacks. He is also the top-rated player in the state of Tennessee.

Clemson did just suffer a decommitment of its own when 2025 4-star QB Blake Hebert flipped to Notre Dame on Monday. Head coach Dabo Swinney went on record Tuesday noting the Tigers intent of still adding a player at the position in the current recruiting class.
