The 13'4" great white that washed up on Cape Cod on Tuesday has been sliced open – in the name of science.

If you’re chomping at the bit to get an even closer look at a shark, now you can.

A great white shark washed up on Cape Cod earlier this week and went viral after it was hauled away in a tow truck. Now, a scientist from the Massachusetts Department of Fisheries performed a necropsy on the 13-and-some-more-foot shark and posted the video on X (formerly twitter.)

Warning: the video contains some blood.

In the video, a team cuts right into the shark’s cartilage and removes pieces of the shark’s innards, collecting samples.

The post said the necropsy didn’t immediately reveal the cause of death, but some tissue samples were collected for further analysis.

Orleans police said it wasn’t a “typical call for service” having to haul a great white shark off of the beach and into a tow truck.

“You really never know what kind of call you’ll respond to on any given shift,” the department said in a Facebook post.
