After MLB fans were confused about who Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift were rooting for during their Game 1 ALCS Playoff appearance between the Yankees and Guardians, Kelce praised his hometown Guardians following their extra-inning 7-5 win.

Kelce went on X and posted "Playoff baseball baby @CleGuardians have the city absolutely ROCKIN TONIGHT! What a game!" Fans were surprised by Kelce's reaction after the power couple appeared during Game 1 of the Yankees series, sitting in an NYC VIP box surrounded by Hollywood friends, casually downing drinks and conversing away.

Chiefs fans first questioned Kelce for attending a Yankees game in New York after the team eliminated the Kansas City Royals from the playoffs. Swift's excited reaction during a Yankees home run had both MLB fans and commentators wondering where their loyalty laid.

Yankees star right fielder Juan Soto launched a towering 401-foot home run in the third inning, sending the ball deep into the stands and giving the Yankees an early lead. On camera, Swift responded with seeable excitement, breaking into a wide smile and madly cheering the home run. The sight caught baseball fans off guard, as Kelce was born and raised in Westlake, Ohio, just 15.9 miles from Cleveland. But even after making his allegiance known, fans criticized Kelce, labeling him a bandwagon supporter.

Fans were quick to notice Kelce’s neutral appearance during Game 1, where he was seen with Swift nearly in Yankee-colored outfits and without any visible support for the Guardians. One fan wrote: “You gonna put on a hat now, Travis?” - questioning the strength of his Ohio roots.

Another fan added: "Weren’t you just cheering for the Yankees?" A herd of baseball fans agreed, and another said: "You were just cheering for the Yanks.” When the actual home run occurred, the MLB commentary team said: "Wrong team, Taylor" - live on air.

Outside the flurry of online jokes and memes, Kelce’s loyalty to his hometown team has been evident on multiple occasions. One of the most notable moments came on opening day in 2023 when Kelce threw out the ceremonial first pitch at Progressive Field before the Guardians faced off against the Seattle Mariners.

Kelce wore the Guardians jersey and hat that MLB fans have been looking for over a T-shirt that read: "I'm From Cleveland." He lifted the shirt for the crowd to see as they cheered him on.

Travis was joined by his mother, Donna Kelce, who stood beside him on the mound. She wore a custom No. 1 jersey with her name featured on the back. Kelce's pitch was so bad, that he hit the dirt and failed to even reach home plate. He chased the ball and was later made fun of by Patrick Mahomes for the throw.
