Sadio Mane's surprising salary after quitting European soccer for Saudi Arabia

Despite his high-profile move from Liverpool to Bayern Munich - and then joining forces with Cristiano Ronaldo at Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr - Sadio Mane still finds himself in the shadow of former teammate Mohamed Salah .

Over a year after his lucrative switch, he's not even out-earning Salah. Now 32, Mane is halfway through his three-year contract and is one of four players from Saudi clubs among the sport's top 10 earners. But his earnings are less than half of his league contemporaries.

According to Forbes , Mane is the world's ninth highest-paid soccer player, earning $52 million. A whopping $48 million of that comes from on-field earnings with Al-Nassr.

However, Salah sits one place higher than Mane thanks to his $53 million earnings - with $18 million of that coming from off-field earnings. So, although Mane gets paid more by his club, Salah remains a much more marketable player.

Ronaldo is the highest-paid soccer player on the planet, earning $285 million. He's followed by Lionel Messi in second ($135 million), Neymar in third ($110 million), Karim Benzema in fourth ($104 million), Kylian Mbappe in fifth ($90 million), Erling Haaland in sixth ($60 million), and Vinicius Jr. in eighth ($55 million). Kevin De Bruyne rounds off the top 10 with earnings of $39 million.

Mane scored 120 goals during his six-year spell with Liverpool, helping the Reds win the Premier League title, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, European Super Cup, Club World Cup, and Champions League under Jurgen Klopp. He was also part of the side that reached the Champions League final in 2018 and 2022, losing to Real Madrid on both occasions.

Mane picked up plenty of individual honors during his time on Merseyside - including the Liverpool Fans' Player of the Season award. He shared the Premier League Golden Boot with Salah and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang during the 2018-19 season with 22 goals.
