An Unlikely Bond: “My Dad’s Best Friend Is A Pelican”

The world is full of awesome creatures — many of which it’s best to keep a safe distance from, even when they are incredibly adorable . That said, some of us end up forming friendships with even the most unlikely of animals. This is certainly the case for this Dad in Lebanon. His daughter, who goes by leilaassal on Instagram, gives us details on this amazing story.

Last year, the woman’s dad found himself in the position to rescue a pelican. Dad first came across the creature at the fishermen’s port. The injured bird sought refuge here, and Dad was more than happy to offer a helping hand. As a result, Dad and the pelican have become the best of friends over the course of a year. “They swim, play and walk together,” the video’s caption reads , “a friend he never knew he [would] have.”

Pelicans aren’t exactly known for being friendly to humans. That’s why it’s all the more spectacular that this friendship is still going strong. Dad feeds the pelican fish, and the bird watches over Dad as he naps outside. Plus, they love to swim together and lounge near the gorgeous water — what more could you ask for in a friendship !?

When Dad Gets to Rescue an Injured Pelican, It’s the Start of a Beautiful Friendship

“I’m getting really sick and tired of things like this not happening to me,” someone admits in the comments, with another adding , “Hey is your dad a Disney princess and can I be him?”

“The fact that she is completely free but still chooses to stay here with him means a lot,” a third person points out. “This is happiness.”
